Senior Counselor
Specialized in Grief and Loss (Attachment Focused)

Hello! My name is Rachel, and welcome to Therapy Austin. Regardless of what has brought you here today, taking this step can be both intimidating and empowering. Therapy is a wonderful journey that can provide new skills, further insight, and a space to be heard and accepted unconditionally. Maybe you are feeling less yourself recently, more tired, anxious, or depressed. Maybe you are beginning a life transition that is bringing a whirlwind of emotions.

Maybe you have experienced a loss and are struggling to adjust to the new changes in your life. Whatever your experiences have been up to this point, I look forward to exploring them together as we seek greater understanding and work to strength and build skills in this next chapter of your journey.

I have worked with adults and adolescents exploring a variety of issues, including grief and loss, anxiety, depression, family-of-origin dynamics, and trauma. Every person has their own unique story and experiences, and you are the expert of yours. It is an honor to hear my clients’ stories and is of the upmost importance to me that the therapeutic space is one of safety and support.

My approach is warm, supportive, and affirming. I draw from multiple frameworks, including mindfulness and neurobiology. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and culturally sensitive. Finally, I believe that therapy is a space of empowerment in which to grow and learn more about yourself. In our work together, we’ll examine different challenges you are currently facing in your life, seek to understand factors that contributes to these obstacles, and build upon your resilience as we deepen your connection with yourself and others.

A bit about me: I moved to Austin in 2014 for school and earned my Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Neuroscience. After, I studied at the University of Texas in Austin where I received my Master of Science in Social Work. Outside of the counseling room, I love hiking and curling up with a good book and a cup of tea.

If you are interested in chatting more about how you and I might work together, please give me a call at (512) 201-4501, ext. 298. I look forward to getting to know you!
