Hi there! I’m so glad you’re here. My name is Katherine, and I’d be honored to partner with you on your wellness journey. Whether you’re seeking support through life’s challenges or relief from difficult experiences you’ve had, you’re in the right place.
My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental and interactive space to care for the parts of yourself that are hurting or confused. My hope for you is that after working together, you are able to navigate your world with more insight, confidence and balance. My style in the therapy room is warm, curious and humanistic. In a session with me, you can expect kindness, empathy, and authenticity. I practice with the belief that clients are the experts in their own lives, so you can also expect a collaborative dynamic.
Some things we can work on together include grief, family relationships, life transitions, trauma, anxiety, depression, religious identity, and boundaries. We can get curious about how certain thoughts, memories or behavior patterns might be making you feel down or holding you back. We can talk about what healthy boundaries might look like in your life, and what it looks like to live a self-led life. We can also take time to look inward and care for the younger parts of yourself that might still be asking for help.
I am interested in working with clients who would like to reimagine the way they engage with their spirituality or religion- I hope to help clients build a strong sense of self, strengthen their brain-body connection, and use biofeedback in order to engage with their religion in a way that honors their beliefs, values, and needs. I come from a medical social work background, so I am also interested in working with healthcare workers, and folks who are experiencing new, chronic or complex medical diagnoses.
Some things that are important to me in practicing therapy include social justice, evidence-based practice, and collaborating with other disciplines to promote holistic care. I decided to become a social worker because it was important to me to be able to both provide therapy and participate in social justice efforts on behalf of clients. I am committed to being an anti-racist human and therapist, and I am LGBTQIA+ affirming.
I am from a rural part of Texas, but once I moved to Austin in 2014 I knew I was home. When I am not in the office, I love to be active, learn new things, and experiment with new foods at home. I also enjoy daily walks with my family, snuggling with my fur baby, and reading. If anything on my page stood out to you, or if you are interested in working together, you can reach out to me at 512/201-4501, ext. 273. I look forward to speaking with you!
Warmly, Katherine
