Hello there, and welcome. I would like to commend you on taking this huge step. It can be difficult or intimidating to admit to ourselves that sometimes, we need help. I would like to share with you that being vulnerable is not the enemy.
Your feelings have value and meaning. It's my belief that as social, curious beings, healthy and meaningful connection plays a crucial role in our ability to relate to the world around us and ourselves. I bring this forward in my work as a counselor and emphasize the importance of vulnerability and self-compassion. My hope is that in our work together therapy offers a space where you can feel safe, and freely process both your struggles and aspirations.
It's been my experience that mindfulness can create a balance between the unceasing train of thoughts we experience on a daily basis and the present moment. In combination with other therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, we can help cultivate self-awareness, effective coping skills, meaningful reflection, and inner healing. My areas of focus are Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Eating Disorders, Shame, Grief, and ADHD.
A little about me: I have a passion for exploration and eating great food! Music is my solace and I love attending music events as much as I can. Sunset walks at my local park are my absolute favorite. I grew up in deep south Texas and come from Hispanic roots. I received my masters in clinical/mental health counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Since then I've worked in nonprofits, partial hospitalization programs, and private practice.
Therapy can be a safe and nurturing place to explore and express yourself. If you feel that we would be a good fit please contact me.
