Gurjit Kaur, LMFT Associate

Supervised by Nicole Warren, LMFT-S

Seeking therapy is a step towards self-awareness and growth. I’m glad you’re taking this step! Finding a therapist may seem overwhelming at first, but I hope to explain briefly about what therapy will look like with me. My approach in therapy is warm, non-judgmental, and culturally sensitive. As a therapist, I aim to assist you in reaching the goal – which is set in the beginning of therapy. A person’s family plays a considerable role in influencing their worldview and in creating internalized perceptions. During therapy your family of origin will be considered even though they may or may not be included in the therapy sessions.

I work with families, couples, and individuals. I have worked with clients on issues concerning relationship discord, parent-child conflict, anxiety, depression, and trauma. People seek therapy for varied reasons. If you desire to have a better relationship (with your partner, family, friends etc.), are going through something difficult, need to work through your emotions, or just feel stuck, then you’re taking the right step in seeking therapy.

A little about me- I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFT Associate). I earned a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Amberton University in 2020, and another Master’s in Interdisciplinary Studies (Counseling, Philosophy, Sociology) from University of North Texas in 2016. In the past, I have worked with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in the roles of a Crisis Intervention Specialist and an Advocacy Intern. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, playing tennis, and reading books. I also love spending time with my family and celebrating holidays!

If you would like to work with me, you can reach me at 512/201-4501, ext. 280 or complete the appointment request form. I look forward to hearing from you!
