“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” -Anais Nin
Hello there! I’m Ellen. In my experience, suffering can feel unbearable, confusing, and isolating. It’s hard to imagine where to start, or what healing even looks like.
If you feel stuck, uncertain, or blocked creatively- I offer a safe and judgment-free space for self-expression and exploration. I believe therapy can help us heal from painful experiences, simply by being heard, witnessed, and validated. From there, therapy can help us move forward, and create a healthy connection to one’s self.
I have a degree in Art Therapy, and like to incorporate expressive art into sessions, when it would benefit and be of interest to the client. Art has always been my passion. Before I had ever heard of Art Therapy, I was using self-expression as a way to cope, self-soothe, and gain self-awareness.
In my internships during graduate school, I was able to work with different populations in a wide range of settings. I have worked with young children, adolescents, adults, groups, and couples. I gained my experience while living in Santa Fe, NM, working at the Tierra Nueva Counseling Center, Behavior Change Institute, and Boys and Girls Club of Santa Fe.
I moved to Austin in the fall of 2018, got married, and had two kids; which has slightly delayed starting my counseling career. Adjusting to motherhood is a whole thing! That being said, I welcome mothers, parents, and caregivers to reach out to me… I see you, I am with you, it’s not easy!
I welcome all to reach out, especially if it sounds like we might be a good fit. You don’t have to be a parent or have an interest in art. I will be honored to listen, learn, and reflect back to you. I believe clients are the experts on their own lives, and hold the keys to healing. I just offer assistance along the way!
