Hello, I’m Courtney and welcome to Therapy Austin!
Whatever your reason for seeking therapy might be, I’m glad you’re here. It takes courage to reach out and start your therapy journey. Therapy is a collaboration between you and your therapist where you have the space to work on your desired goals. Finding a therapist who feels like a right fit for you is important to building a relationship that allows you to get the most out of the therapeutic process. I believe that creating a safe, affirming, and non-judgmental environment allows for the change process to begin.
My passions lie in affirming identities and helping people learn to set and honor their boundaries. I am an LGBTQIA+ ally and supporter and believe in amplifying the voices of historically marginalized groups and communities. I was trained and educated under a strengths-based approach which focuses on identifying what strengths lie in each individual and their environment which can be used to help them reach their goals. Therapy and its approaches should be tailored to the individual. Some approaches I am familiar with include CBT and trauma-informed care. I have experience working with individuals in crisis and who are struggling with suicidal ideation and self-harm. I believe that all individuals are capable of healing and change.
I received my B.A. in Psychology and Political Science from the University of Kansas in 2020 and continued my education there receiving my Masters in Social Work in 2022. I recently relocated to Austin with my dog and am looking forward to exploring the area and becoming a part of the community. In my spare time I enjoy baking, reading, going for walks, and catching up on my favorite shows.
