Christine Molina, LCSW
Welcome to Therapy Austin!
Therapy is a wonderful way to find support, clarity, healing, and growth. I am constantly amazed by the positive changes that individuals experience in therapy and feel honored to be part of their journey of growth and discovery.
I believe that we all have the resources we need inside us already, but sometimes we can’t access them because we don’t know how or something is getting in the way. My goal in counseling is to create a safe space where you can feel seen, supported and valued and also provide you with the tools you need to deepen your self-awareness, heal, and work through your barriers to change, growth and personal satisfaction.
I work in a collaborative, warm and relational manner and use a variety of scientifically-proven therapies that draw on research from neuroscience and how experiences are stored in the brain and body. The main therapy modalities I use include EMDR therapy, relational therapies, AEDP (Accelerated Experiental Dynamic Psychotherapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and therapeutic methods informed by brain science (such as ADHD strategies, attachment theory, and somatic techniques).
Whether this is your first time seeking therapy or you are looking to build on your previous work in counseling, I’d be honored to work with you. Depending on your needs, our work might include learning practical tools to navigate difficult emotions and situations, uncovering your barriers to change and growth, and understanding and resolving the origin of chronic thoughts, feelings, and patterns that keep you from moving forward and fully enjoying your life.
I have discovered that real life experience outside of my formal therapy training has also richly informed my work as a counselor. Having worked in non-counseling career fields for many years, I understand from personal experience many of the pressures and challenges of the business world. Drawing on skills gained from this experience and my therapy training, I have helped people explore career options, identify professional strengths, and navigate difficult work situations. I have also lived abroad and in several locations around the United States, which gives me a sincere appreciation for other cultures and what it is like to transition to a new place.
If you’d like to find out more about me and my approach, please contact me so you can get better a sense of if my style and personality are right for you.
Professional background and experience: I received my undergraduate degree in German from the University of Pittsburgh in 2001, and a Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) degree from the University of Texas in 2013. My counseling experience includes helping individuals with stress, anxiety, panic, depression, ADHD, life transitions, trauma, PTSD, grief and loss, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, work/school challenges, personal growth, and changing behaviors.
