“Breathing in, I am mindful that my heart is working night and day for me. Breathing out, I smile to my heart.” Thich Nhat Hanh
Are you feeling overwhelmed? Anxious? Do you feel a bit lost or even angry sometimes? I work to create healing spaces and relationships with people to overcome these challenges. I work a little differently than what you may know from reading about counseling online, or even your own past experiences in counseling, in that I’m focused on long-term growth and change instead of short-term quick fixes that don’t really last.
We will work collaboratively to find meaningful ways forward in your life. This looks a little different for everyone, but generally, you can expect to build self-awareness, self-compassion, and meaningful intentionality when working with me. This growth tends to translate to you figuring out how to tackle the problems in your life. Instead of giving advice or telling you how you are doing things wrong, I will empower you to build inner strength and maybe even some inner peace.
As a man in American society who is on my own journey navigating masculinity, I have found that I am able to build strong, close, and safe therapeutic relationships with male clients. If the previous sentence feels irrelevant to you, consider that I can offer a different kind of relationship with a man than you have maybe experienced so far in life. I am affirming of all gender identities, sexual orientations, religious backgrounds, and ethnicities. I take this extremely seriously and I also recognize it is a lifelong learning process for me.
In providing relationship or couples counseling, I aim to increase safe and effective communication in sessions so that partners are empowered to build strength at home together. I am in an intercultural and interracial marriage and am aware of the challenges in these types of relationships.
Please call, email, or use the scheduling function on the left of this page to connect with me and learn more about the process. I love what I do and I love answering questions and getting to know potential clients. I have experience working with a variety of populations and diagnostic labels, so if you don’t see something in my profile that resonates with you, feel free to ask me about it.
