“Breathing in, I am mindful that my heart is working night and day for me. Breathing out, I smile to my heart.” Thich Nhat Hanh
I work at an emotional level to engage with you in an open and intentional way. I will collaborate with you in finding solutions and discoveries that are meaningful and relevant in your life. I approach each session with warmth, curiosity, and total focus on you.
Maybe there is something you don’t love about yourself; maybe you are realizing your job brings you no happiness; maybe you are even feeling distant to those closest to you. It can be difficult to know what to do.
I support people through their challenges by working at an emotional level to untangle root issues and to create a space in which self-discovery and self-acceptance are possible. When appropriate, I offer training in coping skills and mindfulness. I also offer sand tray therapy, which is an expressive modality that can support you in accessing and externalizing difficult internal emotions and experiences. Sandtray therapy can provide deeply meaningful experiences and I have received extensive training and experiential learning in guiding clients through the process.
I am affirming of all gender identities, sexual orientations, religious backgrounds, and ethnicities. I take this extremely seriously and I also recognize it is a lifelong learning process for me. I am also comfortable in exploring issues around masculinity and the different ways it can mean to identify as masculine today.
In relationship counseling, I use emotionally-focused techniques to support partners in achieving open and honest communication in order to grow closer or to address simmering disputes. I work with partners whose goal is to stay together. My approach is not a good fit for partners who are in a discernment phase (not sure if they want to be together).
Please reach out and we can decide if working together will be a good fit. Relief can often begin at the first call. Sometimes we are hidden from ourselves and we stand to gain much through exploring those hidden areas with a compassionate professional who will guide, support, and push us.
