“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” Maya Angelou
Hello and welcome!
You being on this page means that you’ve chosen to take the first step towards the change you want to see in your life and that takes courage.
Therapy can be a transformative tool for those who are ready to do the hard work of being vulnerable and honest not only with the therapist but with themselves. This is why my therapeutic approach is relational and collaborative; I strive to create a safe and trusting environment that goes at your pace. This is where we can slowly uncover feelings around your past, present, and future that may be causing worries or keeping you in unhealthy cycles. We will bring the unconscious to consciousness. We will work together to learn and unlearn skills that may have been useful for survival in the past but are now keeping you stuck. As you share your story and life with me I will listen with a nonjudgmental ear and help build upon the strengths you already have within you.
I am experienced in working with substance use problems, anxiety, depression, codependency, and other compulsive/impulsive behaviors. I also have experience working with children and their families so I will not shy away from exploring family origin issues with you if you choose to do so. I have extensive practice with dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) so you will see flavors of that throughout our work together. Other than DBT, I sometimes pull from family systems and attachment theory to further understand the inner workings behind our chosen behaviors. With that being said, I want you to know that because I truly consider you the expert of your own life, I will never turn down exploring something new that you would like to try with our time together! That’s where the collaboration piece comes into play. Whether you are going through an addiction, a life transition, or wanting to heal your inner child from trauma, I believe you can learn new healthy habits that work for you to regain control and reclaim power in your life story. We will take it one step at a time and I will be cheering you on along the way.
A little bit more about me: I earned my masters in Social Work from The University of Texas in Austin. The opportunity to be at UT where I was part of an integrated behavioral health team along with my lived experiences as a first-generation proud daughter of immigrants are what led me towards this kind of work. I have a deep passion for sharing resources with individuals and communities to live a more fulfilled and satisfying life. Outside of therapy I enjoy running, watching movies, cooking new things, and spending time with my friends and family.
If you are interested in working together or have any questions for me please reach out! I look forward to holding space with you on your journey.
