Need some stress relief?

In this strange time as we await the results to the U.S. presidential election, it's more important than ever to take care of yourselves! Need ideas of what could be helpful?

If you are longing for a wider sense of community, The Center for Mindful Self-Compassion is hosting free "United in Self-Compassion" group meditations. You can sign up here. Humans aren't built to go through stress alone. Be sure to stay in connection with others, whether in person, through phone or video, or on social media.

If you are finding yourself glued to your screens, give yourself a "digital sabbath" for anywhere from 30 minutes to a whole week. To ease into it, try going for a half hour walk at a park or nature trail and leaving your phone at home.

If your synapses are zapping and zinging with extra energy, get up and move! The Therapy Austin Leadership Team had a dance party to "I Will Survive" and it was super helpful! In addition to dancing it out, going for a run, lifting weights, or even doing jumping jacks are all good ways to put that energy to work and help it move through (and out of) your body.

If you need something to help you sleep, check out a meditation app such as Calm, Insight Timer, or My Life to tune into your body and regulate with your breath.

And of course, be sure to schedule an appointment with your therapist! Don't have a therapist yet? Hop on over to our Get Started page to start the process of getting matched with a therapist who is a good fit for you.

You. Can. Do. This.
