Authenticity is integral to my practice and my personal life. I offer my clients a strengths-based approach which is collaborative and client-centered. I employ an eclectic approach in order to meet my clients where they are and ensure I am meeting their needs. I enjoy using Narrative therapy, CBT techniques, DBT skills, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy in working with clients on grief/loss, anger, depression, anxiety, trauma, parenting, and life transitions.
My interest in counseling stems from my fifteen years as an educator and coach, working in a Dallas county maximum security correctional facility, as well as various life experiences. Until moving to Austin in 2001, I had not lived anywhere longer than five years. I’ve lived and worked in rural areas, suburbs, and large cities, and also on a US Army base in Germany during my formative years. In between the moves, I relished summers spent on my grandparent’s farm in Tennessee or camping and waterskiing in Maryland. I played collegiate soccer and basketball, soccer in the third division of the Bundesliga, and coached all ages for over a decade. I integrate my education, counseling experience, and varied professional and life experiences into my practice.
