When I tell people that I love working with trauma, anxiety, low self-worth, substance abuse, and shame, I receive quite perplexing expressions in return. I clarify this by sharing that I have great passion for helping others work through the pains that trauma and other life experiences are causing them. My own painful experiences led me into the arena of therapy and counseling. I began my career focusing on individuals who were trying to get clean from alcohol and drugs, and soon came to realize that I wanted to continue my education in order to work with a more diverse population.

I am a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor with many years of experience working in the field of substance abuse. I worked in a residential treatment setting for more than six years, facilitating family workshops, groups, couples therapy, and individual counseling. I obtained my Master’s degree in Counseling from St. Edwards University and am now a Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern, as well as trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

No matter what has brought you to this point in your life, seeking therapy and the recovery process is a journey of self-discovery and facing the underlying issues that may be keeping you stuck in a cycle of destructive behaviors. Some of those underlying issues go far back to deeply rooted messages received within the family of origin. These messages and insecure attachments carry on into adult relationships and perpetuate low self-worth, anxiety, disconnection, fear, and pain. I am a Certified Daring Way Facilitator and incorporate the research of Brené Brown’s work on vulnerability and shame into my sessions. I focus on building shame resilience by helping you learn how to practice self-compassion and empathy. I bring my eccentricity and humor into the room and want to create a safe space for you to show up, live bravely, discover and love your authentic self in the process.

On a personal note, I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, Photography/Digital Media. I am pretty much a homebody and love nature. I like to do Yoga and I am absolutely a Cat Lady!
