Hi and welcome to Therapy Austin.
Thank you for being here today. It takes a lot of courage to begin the counseling process so I want to acknowledge this first step that you have taken in reaching out. Finding a therapist who you connect and vibe with is a crucial ingredient in a successful therapeutic relationship and I hope that through this snapshot summary, you can get a sense of who I am as a person and of my style as a therapist. My goal is for you as a client to feel completely comfortable in working with me as I believe that trust and emotional safety are the foundation for any good relationship. In therapy, I strive to provide a non-judgmental and safe environment for clients to express their needs, wants, desires, and to process their life and relationship experiences.
I am a firm believer in the human capacity for change and growth. I never fail to be impressed with the amazing examples I have seen in working with my clients of the strength of the human spirit and their ability to positively transform their lives and relationships. As a relationship-focused therapist, I enjoy helping clients cultivate and develop the strengths that they already have and identify new areas for growth in their personal and romantic relationships. I draw from a variety of therapeutic models, including Systems, Person-Centered, Solution-Focused, Attachment Styles, and Gottman Marital Therapy, as I believe that each individual or couple will have their own needs that will require a personalized therapeutic approach. One size does not fit all when it comes to relationships!
On a personal note, I have always been fascinated by people, cultures, and the patterns of human interactions. Coming from a mixed-race and multi-cultural background, I spent a lot of time traveling the world and learning about and from different worldviews and lifestyles. This has helped me to develop a culturally aware and inclusive view of life and relationships which I apply to my work as a therapist as well. When I am not working, you will most likely find me with my pug either curled up with a book on the couch or out walking the trails. I am a travel junkie and love new experiences, especially if they involve food or adventure!
Thanks for reading my bio! If you like what you read and are interested in working with me, give me a call at 512/201-4501, ext. 138 or fill out an appointment request.
