Asking for help is hard. When the topic involves sexuality, trauma, and intimacy, it can feel even more difficult. Everyone needs assistance once in a while-whether it is from past abuse, anxiety, or trouble in a relationship. We may find ourselves regularly focusing on our problems and repeating the same mistakes, making us feel stuck and robbing us of our happiness. I want you to know that you’re not alone.
Often people struggling with sexual issues want to know "Am I normal?" They may feel as though there's something wrong with them because of their sexuality, or as though their sexual interest is too high or too low. Many have felt rejected by partners or afraid to engage with others for fear of rejection. I can work with clients through shame, provide information, and assist in healing.
For many clients with prior trauma, looking at the past sounds about as fun as getting teeth pulled. But if you're here, I'm guessing you've tried "just getting over it" and you're still struggling. Often today’s problems are rooted in previous events. Many of my clients find that looking at their past can reveal a lot about their present. Insight is just step one, though. To get unstuck many clients find they need help forming a new plan and enacting it. Together we can illuminate your patterns. I want to help you gain insight then develop a proactive plan that will help you achieve a healthier life. I am warm and non-judgmental. I use many different approaches that build on your strengths. Together we will determine the best steps to take to achieve your goals.
I enjoy CrossFit, yoga, reading, writing, hanging out with my husband and two cats. I’m honestly a bit of a psychology nerd and enjoy geeking out a little. If you’d like to see about working together, please call me at 512/201-4501, ext. 162 or you can complete a request form. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
