Jennifer "Jen" Nowland, LPC Intern
Supervised by Juliane Taylor Shore, LPC-S, LMFT-S
My name is Jen and I specialize in helping individuals and couples develop healthy and fulfilling relationships. I believe that we can end perpetual issues that leave us feeling stuck and lonely by gaining self-understanding. By arming ourselves with information and insight into our past, we can shine a light on unhelpful beliefs and behaviors that we learned when we were young. Change is possible.
I developed a passion for understanding attachment, connection, and interpersonal relationships because I am no stranger to unhealthy relationships. I started going to therapy because I found myself constantly pushing others away when I really wanted the opposite. I rely on my personal experience in therapy, and ongoing professional education in Gottman Couples Therapy, Interpersonal Neurobiology and Attachment Theory to provide competent care. I will work with you as you develop skills that invite self-love and compassion, deepen intimacy, and foster open communication. I know that we all have unique struggles so I honor this by providing a therapeutic plan that is individually tailored to meet your needs. I believe that this approach will lead to personal growth, improved well-being, and an opportunity to reconnect with friends, family, and intimate partners.
I grew up in Austin and I absolutely love this city! In my free time I enjoy walking at Town Lake with my dog, Baloo, playing tennis, and trying new restaurants.
If you feel like we might be a good match I would love to hear from you! I can be reached at 512/201-4501, ext. 149 or you can request an appointment with me by clicking here.
