Most of us can agree life is sometimes tough, and maintaining healthy relationships with others or ourselves can be even tougher. Despite this, making the choice to seek counseling can still feel super challenging and that’s completely understandable! I realize the dread that can accompany the unknown, especially about what goes on in a session with an individual you don’t know. BUT one of the fabulous aspects of counseling is the transformative possibilities this process can offer you and your life, and I’m so happy you found us and made the decision to do this for yourself.
Whether you are looking to increase your confidence, reframe negative thought patterns, reconnect with your partner or better manage conflict, I’m here to respectfully listen, validate and acknowledge your difficulties. I encourage clients in the free expression of hopes, dreams, feelings and concerns, and attend to building a strong collaborative relationship by providing an inviting space through empathy, transparency and positive regard.
I focus on generating the capacity for healing and growth by stimulating thoughts, emotions and personal meaning while broadening new ways of expressing one’s self. I have the strong belief that every individual has an inner strength and potential to truly lead their vision of what it means to be alive. I want my clients to thrive and am here to support you in this quest.
I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Sciences at Concordia University Texas. My goal to become a counselor was inspired by the positive role counseling had on my life, and shortly after, I completed my Master of Arts in Counseling at St. Edward’s University. I’m dually licensed as a Professional Counselor and Marriage and Family Therapist Associate, which means I received extra training to work effectively with both individuals and couples, and helps explain all those fun letters after my name! My background consists of working and volunteering for many area non-profit organizations grounded in social service to those most in need, including National Alliance on Mental Illness Austin, Communities In Schools of Central Texas and Austin Child Guidance Center, experiences which enhanced my therapeutic skill set and deep understanding of human complexities.
On a more personal note, I was born and raised in Austin, am an enthusiastic cat lover and thoroughly enjoy listening to great music. Counseling has been a natural fit for my passion of working alongside others in achieving their goals and I love the work I engage in. Witnessing my clients’ evolution is such a reward and I look forward to beginning this journey with you.
