Welcome to Therapy Austin! I know it can take courage to go out and find the right counselor for you, and I’m glad you are here.

As a therapist, I consider it a tremendous privilege to meet you where you are and be a part of your journey of discovery and healing. I hope to create a collaborative, client-centered approach to achieving hope and well-being by focusing on your strengths and offering support. Working together we can address your past to gain an understanding of your current self, shedding light on patterns and beliefs that may no longer serve you well. We will also work on skills to improve your ability to be more mindful of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors enabling you to act more in accordance with what is most important to you . In acting deliberately rather than reacting, your actions can be more in line with your values.

Through this understanding and deliberate action, you can heal and feel a full range of emotions as you relate to others and find meaning for yourself. Learning to manage conflict can also allow you to deepen your connection with others and have more fulfilling relationships. Effective communication can enable conflict to be an opportunity for you, and those with whom you have relationships, to gain more understanding of each other and become closer.

I work with both couples and individuals concerned with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, relationships, difficult family of origin experiences, communication, life goals and values, body image, self-esteem, emotional regulation, spirituality, and finding more meaning in life.

In working together, we will develop new skills and gain knowledge that will be helpful to you in reaching your full potential. We will work together using elements from various theories of counseling, such as psychodynamic therapy, CBT, and ACT, finding what works best for you. Couples can expect us to utilize the Gottman Couples Therapy model.

I truly value being inclusive and creating a warm accepting environment for clients from all walks of life. My previous experience working as a teacher in Nigeria and as an English editor in South Korea gave me knowledge of various languages, cultures, and religions. Through my volunteer work in St. Louis, Missouri, and surrounding areas, and working as a sports coach, I also developed an understanding of various socioeconomic groups as well as various ages and stages of life.

On a personal note, though I have lived in 12 different states and two other countries, I love being in Austin. I enjoy running on various trails with my husband and exploring all of the fantastic places to eat. I have been married for many years and have three children, and understand many of the stresses and good times these relationships entail.

If you feel we might be a good fit, I would love to embark on this journey with you. To explore working together, you can call me at 512/201-4501, ext. 220 or request me via our Get Started Page.
