Hello! My name is Emily and I am looking forward to meeting you!
Therapy is a unique and special time to self-reflect, explore new ideas and process life’s experiences. I am passionate about therapy and helping people create and live the healthy life that they desire. I believe that when we face uncomfortable or difficult experiences and wrestle with our thoughts and feelings, we learn who we are, what we want and what we need. Exploring all of this can be scary and might make you feel nervous and anxious.
As your therapist, I will create an inviting, non-judgmental and safe space where you can explore at your own pace. During our sessions, you are the leader and I am your partner and supporter. You are the owner of your experience. It is your life, after all! You have strength and wisdom, whether you feel that right now or not. And we will use your strengths to help you as you move through times of transition, difficulty, and celebration.
I have worked with people who are feeling anxious, depressed and lonely, as well as people who just want to be listened to. No matter what is happening in your life, you will be okay, and we will figure it out together.
I use motivational interviewing, mindfulness, cognitive-based therapy and somatic-based activities among other things to help clients. I am always thinking about your best interest, and we will find what works best for you.
Sometimes therapy can feel very one-sided since the client does most of the talking. I would like to share some things about myself. I enjoy spending time with my husband, my toddler identical twin daughters and my dog Addy. I have been on the proverbial “couch” and worked with therapists to address anxiety. I also have participated in couples counseling to help my husband and I communicate better and strengthen our marriage. I know how scary it can be vulnerable and to open up, but I also know how rewarding it can be.
