Different clients want and need different things. Whether you seek healing or personal growth, help making a tough decision or adapting to a tough change, I take pride in my ability to formulate an evidence-based plan that affords you the best chance of success. I believe that the only thing that stays the same is change. I enjoy working with clients who are adjusting to a change thrust upon them by circumstance as well as those clients who are desperate to initiate a change in their lives.
Before I became a therapist I was a lawyer, and from that experience I bring a focus on the practical and achievable. My clients notice that I build on their strengths and am forward-looking. The therapies I use tend to be Cognitive Behavioral, Solution-Focused and Mindfulness, while being supportive
and offering psychoeducation.
I welcome clients experiencing anxiety and depression, which are highly treatable with established evidence-based therapies. I have worked with clients and their families adjusting to devastating health diagnoses, such as cancer, Parkinson’s and stroke, and the more gradual changes that come with aging. I have worked with clients experiencing grief and loss, in both group and individual therapy settings. I enjoy helping clients explore their interpersonal relationships and how they can be better understood and improved upon.
My clients are both young and old. I am a member of the Society for the Study of Emerging Adulthood and the Gerontological Society of America. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Texas where I received a Grace Fellowship that allowed me to receive additional training on topics related to aging and disability. I also have a law degree from the University of Texas and an undergraduate degree from Trinity University.
I am a long-time Austinite, have been married for over 20 years, and have two teenaged children. If you'd like to schedule an appointment with me, request me on the Get Started page, or call me at 512/201-4501, ext 126.
