Welcome! I am passionate about helping individuals to identify their strengths and develop and implement personal goals in order to lead a more satisfying life. In my counseling practice, I have worked with individuals addressing issues such as anxiety, stress, grief and loss, trauma, domestic violence, sexual assault, relationship issues, life and career transitions and personal growth. My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, meaning that I recognize the prevalence, signs and impact of trauma. Consequently, I actively seek to create a safe and empowering therapeutic space.
I am trained in the Gottman Method of couples counseling and have a particular interest in working with couples in cross-cultural relationships and the challenges that they might face including acculturation and assimilation.
I was born and raised in the United Kingdom in a multi-cultural (Irish/Spanish) family. After completing my undergraduate degree in Japanese Studies at the University of Sheffield (UK), I lived in Tokyo for seven years. In Japan, I met my husband whilst he was stationed there with the US Navy. This eventually brought me to the United States, initially to Hawaii and most recently to Austin.
I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with experience in hospital, social services, criminal justice and corporate environments. Prior to pursing a Master of Science of Social Work (MSSW) at the University of Texas at Austin, I worked in financial services as a project manager and operations manager for thirteen years. In my free time I enjoy yoga, hiking and exploring the Hill Country.
