Hello! Welcome to Therapy Austin and congratulations on taking the first step in the therapeutic process. I believe that therapy in an investment in your own long-term health and wellness. It can be a space for support, venting, sadness, commiseration, frustration, and even laughter. Since you are the expert on your own life, I am eager to listen to your story in an open, non-judgmental space and support you going forward in any way that I can.
Every person is different and has a unique life experience. Therefore, everyone comes into therapy with different needs. Whether you want to work towards a specific goal or you just want someone to talk to, I will be here for you. I utilize an eclectic approach to therapy to tailor the experience to best suit each of my clients. I especially enjoy using Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive-Behavioral techniques, and Mindfulness since these skills are beneficial for a wide variety of concerns. I also consider myself a lifelong learner and am constantly reading up on the latest and greatest techniques to best serve my clients.
Here’s a little more information about how I landed at Therapy Austin. I am a native Texan and grew up in Houston. Eventually I left the Lone Star State for California to study Psychology at Pomona College. This is where I fell in love with learning all I could about mental health and helping others achieve their best life. Wanting to put my passion to good use, I moved to Austin where I completed my Master’s degree in Social Work at The University of Texas.
As a mental health professional, I have had experience working with people from all walks of life and have seen it all: from inmates in jail, to kids at elementary school, and everything in between! Working with people from a variety of backgrounds has truly given me an appreciation for the diversity of human experience. I have helped past clients work through trauma, overcome anxiety, manage stress, handle major life changes, and find their strength in life. I specialize in helping people redefine their own identity and explore the burdens of societal roles and expectations.
Outside of work, I love exploring Austin’s hiking trails, testing my knowledge at trivia nights, and catching the latest movie at Alamo Drafthouse. If you think we would be a good match, feel free to reach out to schedule an appointment by phone at 512/201-4501, ext. 160 or you can fill out our online request form. Thanks for reading!
